Last week I presented Ensafer at DEMO Fall 2012 in Santa Clara in Silicon Valley in front of 1.000 attendees, including 100 from the press. We were one of 75 companies from 14 countries who reached the stage at DEMO after hard competition among hundreds of appliers. Being a small technology company from Norway, we were excited and greatly honored about this opportunity to present our encryption technology and launch our new product exclusively to the DEMO audience. The response was overwhelming, and we got more than 200 press coverage’s world wide after the launch.
About Ensafer
Ensafer is an encryption service for the Cloud, and it offers users of Dropbox, Microsoft SkyDrive, Google Drive and alike to encrypt their data integrated in their service of choice, with all complexity hidden. Ensafer is end-to-end encryption technology, solving an unsolved demand – the encryption of files as you store, share and collaborate with them in the cloud. The groundbreaking, patent pending technology will enable users of these popular services to fully protect their data. Ensafer is security by design.
As organizations invest large sums in corporate security, employees and individuals are wildly adopting user-friendly services to ease their job, hence IT-security has to come to them — not the other way around. With employee mobility rising sensitive data astray is a reality, and that threat needs to be taken seriously. This is why we have developed Ensafer over the last years.
Ensafer is currently in private beta, but we’ll soon lauch a public beta. If you’re interested to try it, please sign up here.
My presentation
I did a live 6 minute demonstration of Ensafer on the DEMO stage. Below is the video showing my presentation on stage together with my Chief Developer of this technology, Øyvind Pedersen.
Here is a picture showing both Chief Developer Øyvind Pedersen and I at the stage. Øyvind did a great job running the demo while I did the talking as you can see in the video.
Booth D66
Every company presenting at DEMO had a booth at the pavilion demonstrating their products for the press, investors and other attendees. We had booth D66, and the picture below shows three happy guys from Invenia after the presentation on stage. To the left is Chief Developer Øyvind Pedersen, to the right is VP Sales & Marketing Dag Tore Aam.
200+ press mentions
After DEMO released our press release, we got more than 200 press mentions around the world. Many of these were posted in the US, which is an important market in the time ahead. VentureBeat wrote the article: “The cloud isn’t as safe as you think; is end-to-end encryption the answer?”. Among other things they wrote:
While many of us normal folks don’t think about security much day-to-day, True Ventures partner Tony Conrad said onstage in reviewing the product, “People identify problems that others don’t realize they have … We’re moving towards a world where people become a lot more cognizant of the risks of not
[thinking about security].”Financial Times picked Ensafer as on of six companies of the 75 presenting naming us “Rising Startups at DEMO Fall 2012”. I’ll get back to this in a separate blog post.
This awesome attention makes us proud and humble, and gives us a lot of energy to continue our work with Ensafer.

DEMO finished last week, and Dag Tore Aam and I will stay for another week in Silicon Valley to follow up the results and contacts made during the conference. DEMO was a once in a lifetime experience, and it was both exciting and demanding. But you’ll never know; maybe we’ll be back with something new in a couple of years.
Thanks to Nathan Gold, the great DEMO-coach helping us before and during the conference. And thanks to Innovation House who made this possible after attending their TINC-program in May/June this year (read my blog post here). For you guys reading Norwegian, you can find a blog post from Paul Chaffey in Abelia here. Thanks, Paul!
And finally: Thanks DEMO! :-)
